GROWTH HORMONE

GHRP-6 (5 mg vial)

Three times daily subcutaneous protocol for growth hormone axis research.

GHRP-6 is an early ghrelin mimetic known for pronounced GH release and the strongest appetite stimulation in the class, which some research uses deliberately. The protocol below runs three daily subcutaneous doses.

Quick answer: at the standard 5 mg + 0.5 mL reconstitution, a 300 mcg x3 daily dose of GHRP-6 draws 3 units (0.03 mL) x3 on a U-100 insulin syringe, three times daily subcutaneous.

Dosing & reconstitution

Frequency: Three times daily subcutaneous
Typical duration: 8-12 weeks

Reconstitution: 5 mg vial + 0.5 mL bacteriostatic water = 10 mg/mL. Units below are for a U-100 insulin syringe at this concentration.

PhaseDoseUnits per injection
Weeks 1-2100 mcg x3 daily1 unit (0.01 mL) x3
Weeks 3-4200 mcg x3 daily2 units (0.02 mL) x3
Weeks 5-12300 mcg x3 daily3 units (0.03 mL) x3

Units = (dose ÷ concentration) × 100 on a U-100 syringe. Change the vial size or water volume and the calculator redoes all of this for you.

GHRP-6 dosing schedule

GHRP-6 has been used in human GH-secretion research since the 1980s, typically as a single provocative intravenous dose to study pituitary response. There is no approved therapeutic indication and no established treatment course.

Study length: Single administration in the provocative-test setting.

Reconstitution and measurement

This part is arithmetic and does not depend on the evidence level. Concentration is vial size divided by the bacteriostatic water you add. Draw volume is your target amount divided by that concentration. Units are draw volume times 100, because a U-100 syringe reads 100 units per millilitre. 1. Wipe the stoppers of both vials with an alcohol swab and let them dry.
  2. Draw the bacteriostatic water with a sterile syringe and inject it slowly down the inside wall of the peptide vial — never straight onto the powder.
  3. Swirl gently until the solution is clear. Do not shake; foaming and agitation damage peptides.
  4. Label the vial with the date and concentration, and refrigerate at 2–8 °C protected from light.

Storage and stability

Dry powder
Cold, dark and dry. Lyophilized peptide is the stable form — keep it that way until you intend to use it.
After reconstitution
Refrigerate at 2–8 °C, protect from light, and plan around a limited window. Do not freeze a reconstituted vial — freeze-thaw damages peptides.
Mixing
Run bacteriostatic water down the inside wall of the vial rather than onto the powder, then swirl. Never shake.
Inspect before use
A clear solution is expected. Cloudiness or particles mean discard, not use.

Supplies math

Whatever amounts your research uses, the planning arithmetic is the same. The calculator runs all of this per compound.

Vials
Doses per vial = vial size in mg divided by your per-dose amount in mg. The calculator on this page runs that arithmetic for any vial size and amount you enter.
Syringes
One sterile U-100 insulin syringe per injection, plus roughly 10% spares for bent tips and mis-draws. Daily protocols run 30 or 31 per month.
Bacteriostatic water
1 to 3 mL per vial reconstituted. A single 10 mL bottle covers 3 to 10 vials, so one bottle usually outlasts several vials.
Alcohol swabs
Two per injection: one for the vial stopper, one for the site. A 100-count box covers about 7 weeks of daily work.

Supplies by protocol length

Based on the maintenance dose above (300 mcg x3 daily, three times daily subcutaneous) and a 5 mg vial reconstituted with 0.5 mL.

DurationInjectionsVialsSyringesBac waterSwabs

12 weeks25216 x 5 mg2781 x 10 mL504
16 weeks33621 x 5 mg3702 x 10 mL672

Syringe count includes ~10% spares. Swabs = 2 per injection (stopper + site). Vial count assumes the full maintenance dose for the entire duration.

Important notes

Practical considerations for consistency and safety.

  • Use a new sterile insulin syringe for each injection and dispose in a proper sharps container.
  • Inject slowly and steadily; wait a few seconds before withdrawing the needle to ensure complete delivery.
  • Administer at the same time each day for consistent levels. Setting a daily reminder helps maintain the schedule.
  • The 5 mg vial size is standard for this compound. Reconstitute with 0.5 mL bacteriostatic water for a convenient concentration.

How GHRP-6 works

The earliest of the growth-hormone-releasing hexapeptides and the compound that led to the discovery of the ghrelin receptor. It is a strong GH releaser and a strong appetite stimulant — the hunger is a pronounced, well-documented effect rather than an incidental one.

Benefits & side effects

Potential benefits

  • Strong GH release through ghrelin receptor
  • Significant appetite stimulation
  • Supports recovery and body composition
  • Budget-friendly GH secretagogue

Possible side effects

  • Strong appetite increase (ghrelin mediated)
  • Cortisol and prolactin elevation
  • Water retention
  • Numbness or tingling reported

This list reflects published literature and community reports. Individual responses vary. Not medical advice.

Bloodwork worth tracking

The community-standard practice is a baseline panel before starting, a recheck 8 to 12 weeks in, and another after time off. For GHRP-6, the markers most worth watching:

IGF-1fasting glucosecortisolprolactin

Typical time off: 4-8 wks

Lab panels are how a research protocol stays honest: numbers move before symptoms do. Interpretation belongs with a clinician. Not medical advice.

Lifestyle factors

None of the literature above was run on a background of poor sleep and no protein. These variables move outcomes more reliably than any compound on this site.

  • Protein in the 1.6 to 2.2 g/kg range preserves lean mass through any body-composition phase.
  • Resistance training 2 to 4 days per week plus 150+ minutes of weekly aerobic work reinforces whatever the protocol is doing.
  • Sleep is the recovery window: 7 to 9 hours at consistent times.
  • Hydration matters more than usual on compounds with GI or flushing effects: 2 to 3 liters daily.
  • Track the variables that matter: weigh-ins, measurements, photos, and labs at sensible intervals.

Subcutaneous technique and practical notes

General best practice from clinical injection guidance — the same fundamentals nurses are taught, none of it specific to any compound.

Fresh sterile syringe, every time
Reusing needles dulls the tip, hurts more, and is the easiest contamination route. Dispose of used syringes in a sharps container, not the bin.
Rotate sites
Abdomen (5 cm clear of the navel), thighs, upper arms. Rotating systematically prevents localised irritation and lipohypertrophy.
Slow and steady
Pinch a skinfold, insert at 45–90°, inject slowly, and wait a few seconds before withdrawing. Subcutaneous injections are not aspirated.
Write it down
Log the date, amount and site. A record is the only way to keep any research protocol consistent — and the first thing to review if anything looks off.
